This drama is from the Harukanaru Toki no Nakade 4 CD ~ Ootsuchi no Sho~ this is my first attempt at translating a CD drama…into English…I can’t even translate well into Chinese =_= I dunno why I give myself a hard time…
I tried to make it so it sounds casual~ so instead of “why did you come find me, something happened?” I wrote it as “What’s up” XD;; Just feel like it’ll suit Sazaki better~

There’s a new CD coming out for Harukanaru Toki no nakade 4 on 9/17/2008. The album is called Hoshikage no uta (星影の詩 / Poem of the Shadows of the Stars). The official page is here The cover is really uncreative though…they just reused the picture over and over again…=_=;

This CD will include the long version of the 3 character songs (Futsuhiko, Tooya and Oshihito) from the previous 2 albums. In addition, it will include songs for Kazahaya, Sazaki, Nagi and Nasatia(Ashvin’s brother). Too bad that Akira Ishida doesn’t sing…so I guess we’ll never get a song for Ashvin~~

I was watching the DVD of the making of Harukanaru ~Maihitoyo~ movie~ the movie’s already out for a while now, but I didn’t have time to watch the making dvd until now. the dvd includes interviews of the voice actors. I like Takahashi-san’s(voice for Inori) hat ^^
What I like the most is it includes a bit of the work progress. This is what attracts me to buy these kinds of dvd or the art books that has character designs and stuff. I like to see the progress of making something~ (including all those PV making videos for Hello Project~ ^^)

Today I got my Haruka Matsuri 2008 DVD~ yay~~ and Hoshi-san is in the middle~~ XDD

The menu screen looks nice, I think the matsuri focused more on Haruka 3’s movie - Kurenai no Tsuki and a little bit of Haruka 4. Kurenai no Tsuki (紅の月) means “the red moon” so I guess that’s why the menu screen has a red moon.

 

The opening was kinda funny to me, cuz all the voice actor/actress say a line when they came out. Hoshi-san’s line was short XD he only said “Miko!” and even though I know Takahashi-san’s outfit was usually the most “decorative” one, I’m still surprised by his shirt…and hat XD He sang a song for Hinoe on the second disk, and he had so many poses…=_= and somehow a little bit too girly for Hinoe; but none the less, his singing was great! There was a game where they are suppose to make a sentence using all the words in the name of the character they played in Haruka 4. And Hoshi-san’s character was FUTSUHIKO so for the first 3 words, Fu-Tsu-Hi he said sentences that’s really romantic and Miki-san was sitting next to him and said “are you alright !??” XDDD and then for the final word “Ko”, Hoshi-san said “I can’t do this!! >o<" . Miki-san then said "ah, anshinnshimashita 安心しました。。。" which means "ahh~~what a relief~". And all the others were really funny too~~but my attention was usually on Hoshi-san ^^; so I might write about others later~ btw, Miyada-san sang my favorite song by Benkei~~ such a nice song~~ ^^

ok, fine KOEI… you evil game company, you! yeah, so as a 30 year anniversary of the establish of KOEI, evil KOEI is releasing another Haruka game in August. Harukanaru toki no nakade ~ yume no ukihashi ~

It will include all characters from 1-3…evil… and the story is basically that the characters were captured and the 3 mikos will save them.

I actually start playing the Harukanaru series right from the start. The first game of the series was on Playstation and it was released in 2000. Currently there are 4 Haruka games and the latest one (Haruka 4) was released on 6/19/2008. There is also an animation and manga for Haruka 1 and I bought the Japanese verison of the manga as a “tool” to practice my Japanese reading XD. A LOT of music CDs, drama CDs and character CDs for the series. Various “Haruka Matsuri” (Haruka festival) and I think there’s also a theatrical live performance on Haruka 1.

The illustration and characters are designed and drawn by Mizuno Tooko, she is now one of my favorite manga artist. I think she is very good at drawing traditional Japanese clothes and good-looking males XDD.

I am at the point that I don’t know how much money I’ve spend and will spend on Haruka series. Especially the design illustration books…being someone that likes to draw in manga style, I really like to look at other people’s sketches~ so I’ve spent a lot of money on these kind of books, not only for Haruka series but also for other games. They way I saved money for the books was to basically not eat lunch and take the lunch money to buy them. =_= But since there’re too many CDs I cannot get them all so I always thought that KOEI (the publisher for Haruka) is evil. They new that Haruka fans are crazy for the voice acting of this game so they kept on making CDs…sometimes just the same songs from different album and called it a “collection” and threw in a different cover. =_= I say that’s evil!!

Actually KOEI is famouse in making games and related products that is hard for fans to resist. Like the CD example, or like the Dynasty Warrior series which is at the 5th game now, everytime they just threw in a few more characters, different clothes and scenes =_= I’m not saying it’s bad, in fact, everytime the new characters are pretty good so it makes people want to buy it. That’s why in Taiwan some people called KOEI (which means “glory”; kanji for ‘KO’ in KOEI is “light”, and ‘EI’ is something like “honor”) Dark-EI(in chinese pronouciation instead). Because the games/products just kept coming…and we never see the end of our collection. =_=|||

Anyways, back to the topic…as I see it, Haruka 1 and 2 are the most similar in terms of background and story. Haruka 3 is a little bit different than 1 and 1. And Haruka 4 from my understanding is a lot different than all the previous games. Haruka 4’s setting is actually way before 1,2,3…and I feel like there will be some clues and stories that explain more stuff about 1,2,3. The similar “elements” for the series are

1) The main character (played by player) goes back in time to a period of time in Japan (hence the Haruka naru toki = distance time) and she was chosen by the dragon god and became “miko” which means the priestess. Her destiny and job is to save the world from the clan of the ghost/demon (oni no ichizoku). But I think, the more important job is to get one of the guys to fall in love with miko XD. Yes, this game is basically a love-simulation game, but it’s different then the usual love SLG, because the storyline is strong and involves more stuff then go on dates and stuff XDDD.

2) There are 8 male characters. They are the gaurdian for miko. They are called “Hachiyo” (the kanji means eight-leaves) in Haruka 1,2,3.

3) Many endings, including but not limit to going back to the main character’s time alone, the so-called love ending with each of the characters and “friendship” ending (where you did not choose any of the 8 characters)

4) Super good voice actor/actress. I’ll have to say, this is probably one of the main reasons that this series is so popular among fans. (leads to the evil CDs…^^;)
